The Positive Conservation Partnerships (PCP) initiative was announced at the One Planet event on vital carbon and biodiversity reserves at COP 27 in Sharm El Sheikh. It proposes to create a payment mechanism for services provided by forest countries, based on rigorous monitoring of the implementation of a certain number of commitments on their part and their results.
Committed states would produce "biodiversity certificates", which could be purchased by sovereign states or private players as a positive contribution to nature protection.
Thanks to this announcement of investment by France, the NGO Conservation International and the Walton Foundation, the structuring of a seed fund is underway, and a first signature of PCP contract is expected at COP 28 in Dubai.
